The Departure: Cape Cod II

All the way at the very end of Cape Cod is vivacious, picturesque, and unique Provincetown. Since the 1960s, it’s been a hub of inclusivity, creativity, and some really great restaurants- in other words, absolutely worth heading out to despite the distance. There’s even some stunning architecture to admire on the drive there, such as the sunny Lechay House and rustically modern Halprin House, both of Wellfleet.

Stop in Truro on the way over, too, for a wine tasting at Truro Vineyards. Both quaint and lush in appearance, they’re an eco-friendly venue whose methods of production for the over twelve different wines they create are entirely “green”. There’s even a series with lighthouse-shaped bottles as a nod to Highland Light, the tallest and most well-known lighthouse on the Cape.

Once in P-Town, walk down Commercial Street, where any number of interesting things can be found, such as the Provincetown Art Association Museum with its always-amazing exhibitions. For restaurants, the inventive Sage Lounge and the quirky, bright Canteen are right down the road and perfect for a leisurely afternoon.
