At Lotuff, customization is at the core of what we do.
As a design studio inspired by the legacies of traditional European ateliers, our dedication to handcrafting bags means each piece that moves through our studio is inherently unique. Our bags pass through a handful of skilled hands, each with a focus on a distinct aspect of the craft, whether it be cutting, sewing, painting or putting on those final touches.
Thanks to the artisanal nature of our process, and the versatility of the full-grain vegetable-tanned leather we exclusively use, customizing our designs is easily integrated into our workflow. We relish opportunities to tailor our pieces to the individual taste and character of our customers - and to further exercise our creativity and strengthen our craft.
We consider custom pieces to be in one of three categories according to its level of involvement, time commitment, and number of considerations.
1. Minor Adjustments
2. Structural Customizations
3. Bespoke Pieces

Minor Adjustments can be simple things, such as requesting a custom strap or handle length, or having a bag made in a different color-way. These changes do not require new dies to be made for cutting, or extensive custom hand-work. Minor adjustments are the easiest of our customization offerings.
Maybe you love the Tripp II but you are just itching to see it in Fern or Turmeric. Or perhaps you need a new briefcase, but you want it to hang lower off the shoulder. If so, this level of customization is for you, simply give our office a call or write us an email before your order, and we'll be more than happy to walk you through how to get you your dream bag.
Structural Customizations are a little more involved. These usually consist of hand-cut additional parts, and a little bit of design work by our team of artisans to tailor your bag to your specifications. These additions usually come with an additional fee, to be discussed upon purchase.
Examples might include an additional custom pocket on the interior for your favorite pen or notebook, or a luggage sleeve on the side of a Weekender for your phone, wallet, or passport when you are on the go. These take a bit of time, and a touch more communication so we can get it just right, all with the goal of making your new bag the best it can be for your lifestyle.
Bespoke Pieces expand possibilities beyond the choices available in our current line. Presenting customers with a unique opportunity for a unique bag is something Lotuff is especially proud to offer, as an extension of our commitment to customer satisfaction and best-in-class quality.
The opportunity to own a singular, wholly distinctive, Lotuff bag begins at $3500 and increases with the variables of product size and leather type. This process is always a collaboration, bringing the customer in as a designer in the process. Together, we’ll work to hand-pick the hide, style, shape, and utility for a special and thoughtfully conceived item to be created in our studio, by the hands of talented artisans.
We're happy to work with you remotely, or, if you want to get hands-on in the process, you can schedule an in-person visit to our Providence, RI studio. From time to time we also visit stockists with a sampling of our leather and styles on offer; and are able to arrange a meeting at one of these locations upon request.
Like visiting a traditional tailor or seamstress to choose the cloth, cut and trim of a bespoke garment, this customized bag will be made to serve your individual needs, improve with age, and be the last of its kind you will ever need.
